Elvis’s new EP, entitled “The Real Elvis” was released in August 1956. Again, RCA released as much Elvis material as possible, even if it was duplicating previously released material. In this case, this EP contains two singles, one that was a recent success (Don’t Be Cruel / Hound Dog) and another from the same year 1956 (I Want You I Need You I Love You/My Baby Left Me).
Commercially, the EP initially sold over 400,000 copies. It was not published on the charts. “The Real Elvis” is currently certified platinum by the RIAA.
