Elvis signs a new contract with RCA in January 1962 that runs until 1966. He also celebrates his 27th birthday in Las Vegas at the Sahara Hotel where Col. Tom Parker has contacts with the owner of the Hotel. In February his new single Good Luck Charm/Anything That’s Part Of You is published, which will reach number 1. This will be his last number one in the US until 1969 with Suspicious Minds.

Elvis bought a 1962 Dodge brand car on March 12 of that same year with air conditioning, a double bed, two bunk beds and a kitchen. He plans to hire George Barris to customize it and use it for his trips from Memphis to California and back. George Barris was a “car customizer” who worked for the big stars. The movie “Follow That Dream” makes its national premiere on May 23, 1962 and hits #5 on the box-office hits chart. The critics on the film are good as well as the reception of the public that goes to the movie theaters.
