ELVIS “JUNE 26, 1977”

JUNE 26, 1977 Elvis Presley performed at 8:30 PM at the Market Square Arena in Indianapolis, Indiana, in front of 18,000 spectators.
For the last time he wore his “Sundial Suit“.

In the June 27, 1977 edition of “The Indianapolis Star”, Rita Rose said: “…almost everything he did created mass hysteria…During ‘CC Rider,’ the flashes exploded wildly and when he got to ‘Amen,’ he had everyone clapping in unison…
Towards the end of the show, he mesmerized the crowd with ‘Hurt‘, brought many to tears with ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water‘ and then, lastly, sang ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love‘.

Although the music faded, Elvis did not want to leave the stage.
I pace back and forth, shaking my head in disbelief at the roar of more than 18,000 fans.
His name was everywhere: on posters, badges, books, souvenirs, t-shirts, caps and clothes that proclaimed with personal touches, the admiration for a man idolized by millions of people. .

The big question was, of course, …had he lost weight?
His last concert here, nearly two years ago, found Elvis overweight, ill and likely to give a lethargic performance.
As the arena lights dimmed after intermission, a silent call could be felt spreading through the audience:
How is Elvis?

And then he appeared, in a gold and white jumpsuit with white boots, jumping onto the stage with an energy that relieved everyone.
At 42, Elvis is still overweight, but that hasn’t stopped him from performing in true Elvis style…

Her coveted scarves, thrown into the audience after adorning the singer’s neck, caused an uproar onstage when she took them off as quickly as she put them around her neck.
” Fans testify: ‘…we’ve seen it at least 50 times, in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and other places. We first saw it in 1956,” Michelle Klein, with her twin sister and teenage daughter Madelene.

It hasn’t changed at all. You are more handsome now than ever, It’s not getting old, it’s getting better.”
