He worked there for three months and his job was to drive and operate a “spindle press” at the plant, which made rocket shells for the military.
Elvis earned $27.00 a week.
In this same year, 1951, Elvis passed his driver’s license exam using his uncle Travis Smith’s 1940 Buick.

On September 21, 1953, Elvis returned to the Precision Tool Company, operating a drill press for $1.55 an hour. and continued to work there until March 19, 1954.
