ELVIS AS RECORDED AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN (3-CD)
Having wrapped up an immensely successful tour in April, which was filmed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer for the 1972 documentary Elvis On Tour, confidence in the Elvis camp was high as the four shows at New York’s Madison Square Garden York sold out, along with the rest of the June tour.
Any reluctance Elvis might still have had about performing in the Big Apple soon dissipated as the roar from the MSG audiences was deafening.

Summing up the triumph, the New York Times “Arts and Leisure” headline headlined him “…like a prince from another planet.”
Elvis As Recorded at Madison Square Garden with the evening show on June 10, it launched quickly at the end of the month and sold a million copies in the US in a matter of weeks.
Total US sales to date now exceed 3 million, thus achieving triple platinum status.
The afternoon concert was finally broadcast by RCA in 1997, 20 years after Elvis’ death, as “An Afternoon In The Garden“.

This belated FTD 50th Anniversary edition celebrates these legendary shows with newly mixed versions of both shows by recording engineer Matt-Ross Spang.

Presented in an 8×8″ ‘Sessions’-style slipcase, this 3-CD Set contains a 20-page color booklet, excellent photos, memorabilia, press conference transcript and commentary by the late Phil Gelormine.
