INFORMATION

Released in May 1964, the Viva Las Vegas EP was a “mini” soundtrack to the Elvis movie for Metro Goldwyn-Mayer and perhaps one of the most important of his career. It was clearly a missed opportunity to make a good LP. (There were themes for it) and take advantage of the popularity and publicity that Elvis achieved with this film. The recording session took place at Radio Recorders in Hollywood in July 1963.

Certainly there were good and abundant themes to make an LP that obtained Good sales and, as we have said previously, further increase Elvis’s popularity and sales at the record level. Unfortunately it was decided to discard the publication of the LP and limit the publication of these four songs (which deserve our listening) along with the single from the film (Viva Las Vegas / What’ d I Say) which diluted the potential commercial success.

The film was a complete success, while the soundtrack reached number 92 on the Billboard charts and sold approximately 150,000 copies.
