INFORMATION

Single published within that series called Gold Standard that recovers songs previously recorded and even, in some cases, already published as a single years ago. This specifically draws his attention for recovering on his A side a theme recorded by Elvis in the recording sessions that resulted in his first gospel album His Hand In Mine (1961). Crying In The Chapel, which for some strange reason did not see the light of day at that time, had to wait for its opportunity until 1965, although the wait had its reward: No. 3 in the US and No. 1 in the UK, the fifteenth it had achieved in the British Isles and the last one he would get in the remainder of the 60s. A true classic by the king of rock who barely needed two and a half takes to record this beautiful song. It was number 3 that was finally used as the master.

Its B-side, I Believe In The Man In The Sky, recovered a song from the His Hand In Mine album. It did not enter the lists. It was take number four that was chosen to appear on the album.
