THE LAST APPEARANCE OF ELVIS AS AN ACTOR ON THE BIG SCREEN
On January 27, 1968, BILLBOARD magazine launched the following headline:
“Elvis Presley Made His First TV Special”.
“Elvis Presley has signed on to do his first TV special, probably in December, on NBC. Bob Finkel, executive producer of the Jerry Lewis Show, will produce the show.
Presley, whose movies will score highly on television, will also be starring in a movie to be released on Thanksgiving Day 1969.
The film will be financed by NBC.”
Billboard magazine made reference to what would be Elvis’s last appearance on the big screen as an actor, and the long-awaited closure of his commitments to Hollywood: the movie “Change of Habit.”
