“IT HAPPENED AT THE WORLD’S FAIR”
On August 27, 1962, the filming of the film “It Happened at the Universal Exposition” began.
The film was filmed in Seattle, Washington, site of the 21st Century Exposition. Then-Washington Governor Albert Rosellini suggested the setting to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer executives.
It was directed by Norman Taurog.
The film was released on April 3, 1963 in the US and grossed $2.25 million at the box office.
It was the film debut of a very young Kurt Russell, who appears in the film kicking Elvis in the shin.
In the photos we see Elvis and his co-star, little Vicky Tiu.
Vicky Tiu Cayetano, currently an American businesswoman and politician, who was First Lady of Hawaii from 1997 to 2002. She and Governor Ben Cayetano were married on May 5, 1997 at Washington Place.
She was a Democratic candidate in the 2022 Hawaii gubernatorial election.
Vicky gave a magnificent performance in the film and left us unforgettable scenes with an endearing Elvis, who, as always, exudes love and tenderness towards children, in this case towards a little Vicky Tiu, for whom the future would hold to become First . . . Hawaii lady.
