INFORMATION
Lonnie Beale (Elvis) is an unemployed rodeo cowboy who arrives in the town of Zuni Wells hoping to find work. Although it is not what he expected, he begins to work as a gym instructor and entertainer at the Circle Z ranch.
Elvis and Colonel Parker wanted to help Allied Artists studios in their difficult economic situation by lowering the artist’s cachet but in exchange they ensured 50% of the film’s box office profits. To reduce costs, no soundtrack was recorded for the film, but songs previously recorded by Elvis and that appeared on albums such as Elvis Is Back! (1960), Something For Everybody (1961 or Put Luck (1962), in addition to other recordings made in Nashville during 1963 and 1964. The result was a total success, especially for the song (Such An) Easy Question, which was a Top 40 hit. in the US, peaking at #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the Billboard Easy Listening Chart in July 1965. The film grossed $5 million at the box office.
