Q. Was it an interesting experience meeting Elvis Presley?
“Yes, it was brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. I think I was 21 at the time and we were in Vegas doing a show and he was there with his entourage, you know, the Memphis mafia (laughs). That wasn’t the first time I met him; The first time was in Hawaii. He came with his wife, Priscilla, he came to see Tom Jones perform”
Slade joined the Australian group AC/DC thanks to the collaboration of Steward Young, one of his managers, who recommended him, thus achieving approval. by Malcolm Young, being impressed by his style.
Chris participated in the albums The Razors Edge, the live album Live, and the single Big Gun, which served as the soundtrack for the film Last Action Hero.
Due to the legal problems that Phil Rudd (AC/DC’s drummer at that time) was suffering, the band was forced to look for a new drummer for the Rock or Bust World Tour. They turned to Chris, who re-debuted with the group at the 2015 Grammy Awards.
