ON THE ROAD TO NASHVILLE TO RECORD “SOMETHING FOR EVERYBODY”

COMBINING MUSICAL AND FILM CAREER

TO FOLLOW THAT DREAM ELVIS DECIDES NOT TO DYE HIS HAIR AND WILL WEAR HIS ORIGINAL HAIR COLOR.

Elvis recorded the soundtrack and filmed his ninth film titled, “Follow That Dream” during the months of July and August 1961. Initially filmed under the title Pioneer, Go Home, it was quickly retitled Follow That Dream. . Filming takes place in Florida under warm temperatures. As an anecdote, Elvis will not wear his traditional black hair and for this film he will wear his original hair color.

The soundtrack has been previously recorded at the beginning of July in Nashville, and highlights compositions such as the title track “Follow That Dream” or “Angel.” A song titled “A Whistling Tune” is also recorded and is discarded, but will be used in his next film Kid Galahad.

Once the filming of Follow That Dream has finished, Elvis spends the month of September on vacation in Las Vegas where he will see shows by Fats Domino, Della Reese, Jackie Wilson and The Four Aces. In October, Elvis will return to Nashville to hold a new recording session for the release of future singles as well as his next album, which was released in 1962.
