THEY SOLD FOR USD 150,000!

Elvis’ iconic suede shoes were auctioned off last night for more than £120,000, which is equivalent to USD 152,000.

The shoes were acquired by an American collector from California at an auction organized by Henry Aldridge & Son.

Andrew Aldridge told CBS News: “…to me, the price reflects the importance of such an iconic object. When you think of Elvis Presley, you think of turtlenecks, Las Vegas and blue suede shoes.”

The authenticity of the shoes was confirmed by Jimmy Tennant, better known as Jimmy Velvet, director of the ‘Elvis Presley Museum’ in Memphis, and is considered “the world’s authority on Elvis,” according to the auction site.

The shoes have previously been on display in several museums, including the ‘Elvis-A-Rama’ museum in Las Vegas, where they escaped a robbery in 2004.

The sale of the shoes “reflects the iconic nature and enduring fascination with Elvis,” Aldridge said. The buyer of the shoes must also pay more than 26% of the auction costs.
