A terrible accident ends the lives of Judy Tyler and her husband, actor Gregory Lafayette. Judith Mae Hess (her real name) had just finished filming “Jailhouse Rock” with Elvis Presley. After filming the movie, Judy and Greg were heading from New York to Hollywood.
While driving through Wyoming on July 3, 1957, an oncoming car slammed into the couple’s car.
Judy Tyler died instantly, and her husband died the next day at a Laramie hospital. She was 24 years old. Her remains and those of her husband were cremated in New York City.
Elvis Presley was stunned by the news and never saw the film again.
