Information

Devil In Disguise, side A of this single, was the most outstanding theme of those that Elvis recorded in Nashville in some sessions that took place from May 26 to 28, 1963. Fifteen songs, most of which were going to be destined for a new LP of the artist although finally the idea was discarded. Some of the songs appeared in successive years as a single (both as A-side and B-side) or as bonus tracks from the soundtracks of the films.

Decades later many of the songs were collected together with others recorded in January 1964 in a single album under the name For The Askin: The Lost Album (1991). Devil In Disguise, whose master was taken from take number six, peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 9 on the R&B charts. In the UK it was number 1.

Please Don’t Drag That String Around, B-side, was taken from take number six. Elvis recorded it just before recording Devil In Disguise, with the invaluable collaboration of Boots Randolph.
