INFORMATION
Released in March 1966, the Frankie And Johnny LP was a new movie soundtrack that Elvis made for United Artist Pictures. The recording sessions took place at Radio Recorders in Hollywood, with Elvis not attending the main recordings and adding his vocals later at Radio Recorders or at Goldwyn Studios. To highlight Hard Luck, Please Don’t Stop Loving Me or What Every Woman Lives For, but unfortunately, the material once again was not good enough to feel motivated or, most importantly, compete with the creativity and quality of the recordings from that time. By the end of 1965, Elvis’ record sales had dropped by approximately 40%… this fact did not go unnoticed in the RCA offices. It was from 1966 that things began to worry not only Elvis… but Colonel Parker himself. Frankie And Johnny reached number 20 on the Billboard charts and its sales did not exceed 300,000 copies. Currently this LP is listed as a platinum record by the RIAA.
