Single taken from the soundtrack of the movie Frankie And Johnny. Precisely, its A side included the theme that gave the film its title; a traditional song that has already seen a version by country legend Jimmie Rodgers. The subject reached position No. 25 in the US and No. 21 in the UK. The master was taken from take six.
Its B-side, a beautiful ballad that would reach No. 45 on Billboard magazine’s Hot 100 but would not enter the British charts. The master take was number nineteen. For these recording sessions held in Hollywood, Elvis worked with musicians including Scotty Moore, Tiny Timbrell and Charlie McCoy (also harmonica), Bob Moore on bass, Buddy Harman and DJ Fontana on drums, Larry Muhoberac on piano, George Worth on trumpet, Richard Noel on trombone, Gus Bivona on saxophone, John T. Johnson and Robert Corwin on tubas and on vocals The Jordanaires: Gordon Stoker, Hoyt Hawkins, Neal Matthews and Ray Walker; Eileen Wilson and Sue Ann Langdon.
