Published in April 1970, Let’s Be Friends was an LP of previously unreleased songs that came from different studio sessions, as well as with different themes. Except for the song Mama, which came from the sessions for the film Girls! Girls! Girls! The rest were recent recordings made between 1968 – 1969. We could find discarded themes from films, as well as studio themes that had not come to light. This LP was covered by the recent agreement (from the end of 1969) that Colonel Tom Parker had signed with RCA to publish on another label of the company (Camden Label, which was more economical) a series of LPs during the years of 1970 and 1971. (which would later be expanded).
Regarding the LP, we have everything, good songs and others less acceptable, but in the end it contributed new recordings to Elvis’ catalog. The LP reached number 105 on the Billboard charts and sales were surprisingly good. Let’s Be Friends is currently listed as platinum by the RIAA.
