GIRLS! GIRLS! GIRLS! NEW FILM FOR 1962

In January 1962, Elvis signed a new contract with RCA that extended until 1966. He also celebrated his 27th birthday in Las Vegas at the Sahara Hotel where Col. Tom Parker had contacts with the owner of the Hotel. In February the new single Good Luck Charm / Anything That’s Part Of You is published, which will reach number 1. This will be his last number one in the US until 1969 with Suspicious Minds.

Elvis bought a 1962 Dodge car on March 12 of that same year with air conditioning, a double bed, two bunk beds and a kitchen. He is considering hiring George Barris to customize it and use it for his trips from Memphis to California and vice versa. George Barris was a “car customizer” who worked for big stars. The film “Follow That Dream” makes its national premiere on May 23, 1962 and reaches #5 on the top-grossing film charts. The reviews of the film are good as well as the reception from the public that goes to the cinemas.

FOR GIRLS! GIRLS! GIRLS! THEY RETURN TO THE ISLANDS WITH THE INTENTION OF REPEATING THE “BLUE HAWAII” FORMULA

During March and June, recordings of the soundtrack and filming of Elvis’s 11th film, “Girls! Girls! Girls!” begin. again for Paramount Pictures. The soundtrack is previously recorded at the end of March at Radio Recorders. Otis Blackwell’s new composition “Return To Sender” seems destined to become a new hit. Once again the film is set in Hawaii in an attempt to emulate the formula that had given such good results a year before.

Hal B.Wallis had definitely decided that Elvis would embody carefree characters so that his films would be pleasant, fun and suitable for all families. Blue Hawaii had shown the way, and nothing suggested a change of direction in Elvis’ film career. Upon arriving in Hawaii, Elvis will meet a crowd of fans awaiting his arrival. During the film, Elvis continues practicing Karate in the Hotel, until producer Hal Wallis, for fear that something could happen to Elvis, interrupts these practices.
