I’m Left, You’re Right, She’s Gone
By Mahnuel Muñoz
In March 1955 Elvis, Scotty and Bill met in the studio to record a country song titled “I’m Left, You’re Right, She’s Gone,” composed by Stan Kesler and Bill Taylor.
Two different approaches to the topic were tried; a slow and dense blues that brings a more dramatic character to the story of an abandoned man and another much more casual one, in which the protagonist takes his fate with optimism. The historical importance of this recording lies in the fact that it was the first Elvis album to feature a drummer, although it was not the legendary DJ Fontana, but Jimmie Lott.
