The rise and fall of the king of rock ‘n’ roll in new Netflix documentary
“I’ve been fascinated by this guy my whole life because I realize that underneath this two-dimensional facade that we see culturally, there’s a human being. I’ve always been interested in that ,” Jason Hehir, director of the documentary “Return Of The King – The Fall And Rise Of Elvis Presley,” which will be available on Netflix on November 13, told The Hollywood Reporter.
In the documentary, the first official trailer of which was released yesterday evening, viewers will be able to follow the phenomenal career of the legendary king of rock’n’roll from its beginnings in the mid-1950s to his triumphant return to the stage in 1968.
In addition to archival statements by Presley himself, the film will also feature Priscilla Presley, Jerry Schilling, Darleen Love, Bruce Springsteen and director Buz Luhrmann (director of the acclaimed film “ELVIS”).
“This documentary will focus on the legendary singer and actor. Using numerous archival materials, it will describe the life and career of the artist, who ultimately died at the age of just forty-two ,” says the director of the documentary.
Known for his documentary series “The Last Dance“, devoted to the career of Michael Jordan, Hehir tries to reveal completely unknown aspects of the lives of the characters he presents to viewers in his productions (often rejecting all the stories and myths that have grown around them). Will he do the same with Elvis? We will find out in a few weeks.
