THE PINK CADILLAC

“The most famous car in the world”

Elvis Presley bought his first Cadillac, a 1954 Fleetwood Series 60 in pink.

It was used by the ‘Blue Moon Boys’ (Elvis, Scotty & Bill) for their first tours, but as everyone knows, it caught fire while traveling from Hope to Texarkana in Arkansas on June 5, 1955

Exactly a month later, he bought a blue Series 60 Cadillac Fleetwood with a black roof and had it painted pink by a Lamar Street neighbor named Art.

He created a “special pink” for Elvis, and rightfully named it “Elvis pink.”

However, the car still had its black roof here, and once the job was done, Elvis gave the car to his mother, Gladys.

Since she didn’t have a driver’s license, Elvis and his gang continued to use the car throughout ’55 and ’56.

On September 2, 1955, Scotty crashed it in Texarkana, causing $1,000 in damage, and then Elvis had it reupholstered, retouched the sheet metal, and had the roof painted white.

The pink Cadillac is on permanent display at Graceland, for many years it was in a kind of garage and then in the Museum of Cars.

In June 2006, he was brought to the entrance of Graceland for the visit of the Prime Minister of Japan, Junichiro Koizumi.

Simply, Rock’n’Roll in person…
