INFORMATION
On January 15, 1958, Elvis enters Radio Recorders recording studios in Hollywood to work on the themes for his fourth film, King Creole. The first of these will be Hard Headed Woman, number one on Billboard magazine’s Top 100 charts for two weeks and number two on both the Rhythm & Blues and Country charts. Take ten would be chosen to form the master. Curiously, despite being one of the most outstanding themes of the film, Elvis does not appear on screen interpreting it, only being included in the background in a brief fragment between scenes.
The B-side, Don’t Ask Me Why, (take number twelve for the master), another of the tracks included on King Creole, peaked at number 28 on the Top 100 charts on July 12, 1958. On R&B charts obtained the second position with a total of ten weeks of permanence. The single is currently platinum.
For the recording sessions there was a cast of musicians who provided a wind instrumentation that perfectly recreated that typical New Orleans jazz atmosphere thanks to the trumpets, clarinets, trombones or saxophones.
