INFORMATION
Kissin’ Cousins, the A-side of the first single to hit the US market in 1964, was recorded at RCA studios in Nashville, mostly to save costs, since hiring musicians in Hollywood skyrocketed the budget. The Kissin’ Cousins ??soundtrack included two tracks with the title of the film, although the one composed by Bill Giant, Bernie Baum and Florence Kaye had the tagline of “#2”. The edgier version of the single featured Elvis’ voice dubbing, one of them with an exaggerated southern accent (Elvis played two roles in the film). Take one of the southern accent and take two of the “normal” performance were used. ” to make the master. The theme managed to reach number twelve on Billboard and number ten on the British charts.
It Hurts Me, B-side, would be the last song that Elvis would record in a period of two years not destined for a soundtrack for his films. It would be the last participation in the production part of Steve Sholes and Chet Atkins in the musical direction. And how could it be otherwise, that last recording produced a delicious song that was incomprehensibly relegated to a B-side. Take No. 5 would be the one chosen as the master in recording sessions held in Nashville on January 12, 1964 in those that would only be recorded, in addition to this It Hurts Me, Memphis Tennessee and Ask Me (these three songs would appear in 1991 on The Lost Album). It would reach position number twenty-nine on the lists.
