ELVIS BIOGRAPHY (1968-1970)

Elvis has been doing virtually all of his recording work in Nashville or Hollywood since signing with RCA. Now, however, he records in Memphis again for the first time since 1955. He performs all-night, marathon sessions at American Sound Studio. His work here will go down as some of the greatest musical moments of his career, the best work of his since the groundbreaking days at Sun Records and the heady days at RCA before he entered the Army.

Elvis has excellent material to choose from and he pours his heart and soul into the sessions. He works with a host of top-rated Memphis musicians. The sound is fresh and bold. In each song, you can feel his enthusiasm and creative energy. This is joyous work, after years of boredom in the movies. Two albums will be the result of these sessions.

The sessions also lead to four singles to be released during 1969 and 1970: “In the Ghetto“, “Suspicious Minds“, “Don’t Cry Daddy” and “Kentucky Rain“.

Between the two recording sessions, Elvis and his family spend Lisa’s first birthday in Aspen, Colorado.
