ELVIS PRESLEY BIOGRAPHY

(1971-1973)

EPISODE 1: “THE JAYCEE AWARDS”

ELVIS IN THE JAYCEE AWARDS

Elvis Presley is honored to be named one of the Nation’s Ten Outstanding Young Men by the United States Junior Chamber of Commerce (The Junior Chamber). He is nervous about his acceptance speech. He is deeply moved and proud to receive this recognition. This national honor has been given every year since the late 1930s and recognizes young people who have made great achievements in their field of endeavor, illustrating the opportunities available in the business system. He also applauds humanitarian and community service. Scientists, inventors, artists, filmmakers, politicians running for the Presidency, and men of greatness across the board have been selected for this award in recent years.
For Elvis, a man who grew up poor, and, in his early career, had received criticism about his work, this is one of his proudest moments. It’s a sign that she has gained acceptance, recognition, and respect for his work and for the kind of person he is.
