INFORMATION

RCA, as part of its Gold Standard series, published a Christmas single in October 1965 with two songs recorded by Elvis in September 1957, in what would be his first Christmas recorded in his entire career and which would be released on the LP “Elvis’ Christmas Album” in October of that year 57.

Its A-side, “Blue Christmas”, possibly Elvis’s best-known Christmas theme, recorded in three takes, the latter being the one chosen for the master. It did not enter the lists.

“Santa Claus Is Back In Town”, B-side needed nine takes to get the song that would eventually become the master. The first eight are not preserved either. It failed to get on the lists.
