INFORMATION
The Spinout LP was released in October 1966. It was the soundtrack to the movie that Elvis had recorded for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. The recording session took place at Radio Recorders in Hollywood in February 1966 except for the three “bonus” tracks” that were recorded at Studio B in Nashville between May and June of that same year. The soundtrack itself did not add anything new, the songs lacked sufficient quality. They tried to make the songs a little more “moved” but only I’ll Be Back had some sparkle. Anyway…something positive…something must be kept in mind…in the last three songs… .as we said before, the three bonus tracks on the LP come from a recording session in Nashville between May and June 1966….Those songs show us again a committed voice…
Spinout reached number 18 on the Billboard charts, but sales did not exceed 300,000 copies.
