Elvis performed at the Ryman Auditorium Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee.
Sam Philips had tried to get Elvis into the Opry, and he succeeded, thanks to his manager.
Country music talent agent and song editor Jim Denny was listening and didn’t like what he saw.
Elvis went to ask Jim what he thought of his act, and the Country music pioneer responded to the 19-year-old:
“…you’re not going anywhere, son.
“You should drive a truck again.”
Jim Denny had the luxury of rejecting not only Elvis Presley, but also Hank Williams!!!
