ELVIS, DECEMBER 7, 1956

Elvis visited the “Goodwill Revue” again from WDIA (radio station) and was again warmly received.

Elvis: “…his music is authentic. It comes straight from the heart.”

On this December night, Elvis performed alongside some of his heroes, Ray Charles, B.B King and Rufus Thomas.

There was no doubt that Elvis was seen as a champion in the black community of Memphis and the audiences at his concerts were certainly not all as white as is often believed.

Although Elvis’ record contract did not allow him to perform at the fundraiser from the WDIA radio station, caused a sensation.
