Released in August 1970, World 50 Gold Award Hits Vol.1 was a 4-LP box set and a new release on Camden’s RCA label. Sales of this label’s previous LP “Let’s Be Friends” encouraged Colonel Parker to prepare a new release, this time featuring all of Elvis’ hit singles from his beginnings in the 1950s to the early 1970s. This release had a double reason: on the one hand, it updated the catalog of Elvis songs for new fans and, on the other hand, it obtained good sales with material already published previously. It reached number 45 on the Billboard charts, and sales were again positive. World 50 Gold Award Hits Vol.1 is currently certified double platinum.
