“Elvis Now” was Elvis’ first album from 1972. It was released in February. The title of this LP could well suggest that we would find an Elvis interpreting contemporary songs and in accordance with the moment in which his musical career was reborn. Unfortunately it was not so, since we are again faced with an LP with songs from different recording sessions that go from 1969 to 1971.
There is a variety of genres such as gospel, pop and country but they do not end up gelling completely. Again we find the usual overproduction in the songs and a very unattractive cover.
Despite this, returning to the musical aspect we find great songs such as “Help Me Make It Through The Night, We Can Make The Morning, or Early Mornin’ Rain.
“Elvis Now” reached number 43 on the Billboard charts, initially obtaining sales of 400,000 copies. Currently this LP is certified gold by the RIAA.
