THE DIVORCE BETWEEN ELVIS AND PRISCILLA IS MADE OFFICIAL. BOTH LEAVE COURT TOGETHER
In September, Elvis recorded several songs that were not finished at Stax Studios, as well as new songs, in order to finish the album “Raised On Rock”, at his home in Palm Springs.
Elvis and Priscilla officially divorced after reaching an agreement on October 9, 1973. They both made a court appearance together after the divorce was granted. They remained good friends. Even though Priscilla had custody of Lisa Marie, there were no official visiting hours, which allowed Elvis and his daughter to spend time together regularly.
In December, Elvis returned to the Stax recording studio in Memphis for a week of sessions. This time, Elvis was more relaxed after the whole court process, and he really had an appetite to record. This time, the record company made an effort and the material at their disposal was of good quality and to make Elvis feel comfortable, they assembled his trusted band, with whom he toured. From these sessions, the albums “Promised Land” and “Good Times” were released.
