Audiences couldn’t help but fall in love with Luhrmann’s maximalist biopic.

Like The King of Rock’n’Roll, director Baz Luhrmann’s “Elvis” is still making noise well past its prime.

The second-greatest musical biopic of all time (behind Bohemian Rhapsody) surpassed the mark of $250 million at the worldwide box office in its seventh week of release, with a VOD debut imminent.

Elvis added 4.5 million this weekend from 70 markets, bringing his overseas gross to $114 million.

At the national level, it billed USD 3.7 million

this weekend, bringing his total to $136,000,000.

While reviews have been largely favorable, critics have focused on Lurhmann’s decision to frame the story through the perspective of Presley’s controversial manager, Colonel Tom Parker (Tom Hanks).

However, all practiced agreement with the central performance of Austin Butler.
