Released in April 1957, “Peace In The Valley” was Elvis’s first release of exclusively gospel material. Perhaps motivated by the good reception that the song “Peace In The Valley” had on the Ed Sullivan show, along with his love For this genre, it was decided, during a recording session held in January 1957 at Radio Recorders studios (Hollywood), to record these 4 songs.

Commercially, this EP was a bestseller, initially selling close to half a million copies and showing a side of Elvis that was partly unknown to a large part of the general public, who only saw him with a rock&roll singer. On Billboard charts, it reached number 39. Currently the EP “Peace In The Valley” is listed as platinum by the RIAA.
