Elvis and his two cousins ??Junior and Gene Smith take a cab to the Jefferson Hotel. Here you will have time to rest and prepare for the two concerts scheduled for 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the Mosque Theater.

Wertheimer, on his own, took a train to Richmond to photograph Elvis’s two shows at the Mosque Theater and immortalize this historic day as well.

Before going on stage, Elvis was rehearsing, with the Jordanaires amidst the screams of the girls outside. Elvis tries to focus on rehearsal and work out some of the songs he was going to perform with the Jordanaires, his backup vocal group, but he found it very difficult to do so due to the screaming of his fans waiting outside to watch his performance.

Finally, Elvis went to the window and asked them to please be quiet. After his request, everyone respectfully fell silent.

Meanwhile, behind the scenes, the musicians prepared their instruments, the reporters and the press crowded around looking for an opportunity to get closer to Elvis, and the mothers, wives, girls and adolescents, standing, sitting or leaning against the wall, drank sodas or they were smoking a cigarette, with pictures of Elvis in their hands, looking forward to seeing their idol.
