Elvis. November 1972.
Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort. Honolulu

Given the project of broadcasting a Satellite television program for the whole world, on January 14, 1972 from Honolulu, and in order to communicate and make public the expectations and intentions placed on the show; On November 20, 1972, at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort Hotel, Elvis and the colonel called a new press conference.

In it they made public that they expected to achieve a worldwide audience of 1,500 million viewers and that this objective was beneficial, since all the profits would go to The Kui Lee Cancer Fund.

As proof of this, they put a check for $1,000 on the table, to start their charity proposal off on the right foot.

A beautiful Elvis, looking impeccably dressed, looking relaxed and refreshed after his three sold-out shows last weekend at the H.L.C. Arena, entered the room where everyone was waiting for him.

He wore silver-trimmed sunglasses. He was wearing a black corduroy suit and a white shirt without a tie, over which a beautiful coral and turquoise tie shone…

Elvis promised reporters and viewers that he would put on “a good show… that would be very entertaining…”.
The truth is that it was much more than that…

Elvis would make history in the world of television and entertainment with his concert special “Elvis: Aloha from Hawaii, Via Satellite,” at the Honolulu International Center Arena, on January 14, 1973.
