HIS LAST FILM, WINNER OF A GOLDEN GLOBE
Elvis begins another successful engagement on January 26, 1972 at the Las Vegas Hilton. The reviews are very good, thanks in part to a repertoire that introduces quite a few novelties and also to the increasingly better voice that Elvis shows off. After the season in Las Vegas, and having spent a short period of rest, on April 3, Metro Goldyn Mayer begins recording Elvis in the Hollywood recording studio and then offstage during his concert tour of 15 cities. MGM will use the material for another documentary called “Elvis on Tour” that will show everything that happens on one of the Memphis Artist’s tours.
There is also time between filming for a mini recording session, held at RCA Studio C on Sunset Boulevard, Topics such as Burning Love, Separate Ways or Always On My Mind among others will be recorded. In April, the gospel album “He Touched Me” is released to good reviews. The album will help Elvis to get his second Grammy Award, this time for the “Best Inspirational Performance” category.
