ELVIS – “IT HAPPENED AT THE WORLD’S FAIR”
On August 28, 1962, Elvis showed up for pre-production work on the film “It Happened at the World’s Fair” and took up residence in his MGM dressing room, which had once belonged to actor Clark Gable.
On the 31st, Elvis did his wardrobe fittings with glamorous designer Sy Devore, who in an interview reported that Elvis’ wardrobe for this film cost $9,300 and included 10 suits, 2 cashmere coats, 4 sports coats, 15 pairs of pants, 30 shirts and 55 ties.
Elvis and his entire entourage arrived in Seattle, to film at the planned locations, on September 4, 1962 and settled on the 14th floor of the New Washington Hotel.
