Elvis Presley falls on the set of “Roustabout”, receives nine stitches in his right eye and as a result, Presley takes a day off.

We consulted Hal Wallis and he tells us: “…we wrote a new sequence in the script, showing Elvis having an accident when he crashes his motorcycle into a fence. And yes, you will see him with a black eye in the photo, we have not yet filmed that sequence, we will film it when his eye improves.

Roustabout opens nationally and reaches #8 at the box office.

The film’s script was nominated for the Writers Guild of America Award for Best American Musical. The film finished at #28 on the year-end list of highest-grossing films of 1964 earning $3,000,000 at the box office.

The film’s soundtrack album was one of Elvis Presley’s most successful, reaching #1 on the Billboard album chart.
