Baz Luhrmann Announces New Film Featuring Unreleased Footage From ‘TTWII’ and ‘On Tour’
Baz Luhrmann Announces New Film About Elvis… Without a doubt, this is the most electrifying news of recent hours! Australian director Baz Luhrmann, the same one who directed the famous film “ELVIS” in 2022 with a great performance by Austin Butler and Tom Hanks, confirmed on his social media that he is currently working on another project dedicated to the king of rock’n’roll.

“I’m truly excited to finally announce that we’ve all been working hard and collaborating to uncover and present a treasure trove of never-before-seen footage, audio, and more to create something truly special for the big (and small) screen! TCB ,” Luhrmann wrote on social media.
The whole thing is supposed to concern materials shot for two documentaries from the 1970s – “That’s The Way It Is” (1970) and “On Tour” (1972), which the director obtained and partially used in the film biography of Presley.
Luhrmann’s latest announcement is also accompanied by a nearly minute-long trailer, which features, among other things, a fragment of the famous interview with Elvis filmed in 1972 for the film “On Tour” (in color for the first time on the aforementioned trailer!) as well as rare and never-before-published footage from both of the aforementioned documentaries.
In this short trailer alone, Luhrmann takes viewers behind the scenes of Presley’s concerts, to his band rehearsals and finally to the performances themselves (including a previously unreleased concert from Las Vegas on August 14, 1970). And all of this is often shown from a completely different, new and previously unknown perspective (thanks to shots from other cameras not used in the original films, among other things).
One thing is for sure. Luhrman’s new project should please everyone – both long-time fans of Presley and those who are just starting their adventure with his music. And knowing the director’s scope and the way he makes films, we can be sure that we are getting a great screen return of the king! And at his best! All that remains is to wait.
