Elvis Presley Sunset Boulevard
New box from Sony coming in August
On August 1st, another themed set of Elvis Presley albums will go on sale. This five-disc box set, “Elvis Presley Sunset Boulevard,” will be produced by Sony and will focus on recordings made by the famous singer at the RCA studio building located on the titular Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles.
The announced set will feature a total of eighty-nine tracks recorded between 1970 and 1975. Almost half of these recordings (thirty-four tracks) have been newly mixed by four-time Grammy Award winner Matt Ross-Spang.
On the five CDs, which, as we read in the official press release, give ”
an unprecedented look at Elvis Presley’s studio sessions in Los Angeles “, you will be able to hear both the master versions of songs recorded by the artist in March 1972, including the now legendary “Always On My Mind”, “Separate Ways” and “Burning Love” and in March 1975 – “TROUBLE”, “Shake A Hand” and “And I Love You So” (and the rest recorded for the LP “Today”), as well as the most interesting fragments of the aforementioned sessions (including alternative versions of the aforementioned songs, outtakes, etc.).
In addition, the albums will also feature extensive fragments of rehearsals that Elvis held at the Sunset Boulevard studio with the TCB Band in July 1970 (recorded and filmed for the film “That’s The Way It Is”) and August 1974 (during the latter, Elvis worked on compositions little known to the general public such as “The Twelfth Of Never”, “Your Love’s Been A Long Time Coming” and “Good Time Charlie’s Got The Blues”).
The discs will be accompanied by a booklet filled with rare photos, archival documents and new text by Elvis Presley historian and biographer Collin Escott.
The “Elvis Presley Sunset Boulevard” set will also be available on two vinyl records.
