Elvis at the Ellis Auditorium, Memphis
The shows at Ellis Auditorium in Memphis were the first Elvis Presley performed after completing his military service on February 25, 1961.
The Silver Screen magazine “Teen Album” was one of the media outlets that covered the entire event.
They were at the reception and subsequent press conference at the Claridge Hotel, and of course, saw both shows at the Auditorium.

D.J. Fontana told us that, unlike the Pearl Harbor show, they rehearsed for several days at Graceland, since Elvis hadn’t performed live from that distant Shoffield Barracks in Honolulu, HI in November 1957.
As you can see, there are many songs in common between February and March, but here are some gems that didn’t appear at the Pearl Harbor concert.
“Doin’ The Best I Can” was included in the set list Elvis wrote and then crossed out.
In the evening show, Elvis replaced it with “Fever.” Ultimately, “Surrender” was dropped from the 8:30 show because, as Elvis himself said, “We didn’t get it right.”

Note: None of these shows have surfaced to date. However, I can confirm from reliable sources that a recording does exist, albeit with very poor sound.
