Elvis Presley (EP) was released in March 1956 and was the first Elvis extended play that RCA released. It contained four songs that were part of the same LP that would also be released that same month in 1956, so it did not provide anything new in terms of studio material. All in all, it was the beginning of Elvismania and many fans bought every release from the Memphis singer. Commercially, it sold 400,000 copies, which for an EP was a success at the time and reached number 24 on the Billboard charts. Currently, Elvis Presley (EP) is listed as a gold record by the RIAA.
