Released in April 1972, He Touched Me was the third (and final) gospel LP of Elvis’ career. Recording sessions took place between May and June 1971 at RCA’s Studio B in Nashville. Of the three gospel-themed LPs, it is perhaps the most contemporary.
“He Touched Me” peaked at number 79 on the Billboard charts and earned Elvis his second Grammy Award.
Sales were initially modest but have since managed to push the LP past one million copies, earning Elvis platinum status by the RIAA.
