The last single of 1970 was released in December and served as an appetizer for the album that would come out in early 1970 and would be titled “Elvis Country.” It contained two country-style songs such as I Really Don’t Want To Know and There Goes My Everything. We are faced with two great songs of this genre since they had previously been performed by other singers (such as Eddy Arnold or Solomon Burke), but the reality is that, as in so many other cases, good quality songs in the hands of Elvis were transformed up to the point. extreme of no longer being able to be improved. The last days of the June 1970 sessions, and due to the lack of songs that Elvis liked, what began as a hobby, with Elvis singing country songs that he liked, ended up producing perhaps the only concept album of his career.
The only “but” that can be found in this single is that everything and being country songs, again the overproduction with wind arrangements, made them lose the freshness and naturalness with which they had been recorded (lucky to be able to listen to them today , these themes as they were conceived). The single reached number 21 on the Billboard list, and with sales of 700,000 copies it would achieve the gold record that is still certified by the RIAA today.
