Elvis Biography 1971-1973

At the end of January 1971, Elvis as stipulated by contract begins a month-long engagement at the International Hotel in Las Vegas. The performances are good again, within the same level as the season of August-September 1970. Elvis introduces small changes in the repertoire such as the song “How Great Thou Art” or the song that is used to end the shows, “The Impossible Dream” which this season replaces the traditional “Can’t Help Falling In Love“.

With the commitments over, for March, Elvis begins a recording session in Nashville, but it is canceled due to pain and inflammation in one eye. He is treated at a Nashville hospital, where he is diagnosed with a second glaucoma.

In May, Elvis appears on the cover of “Look Magazine“, which carries a brief account of the biography in preparation on Elvis, made by Jerry Hopkins . Many books and articles have been written in recent years, but this is the first time that an in-depth, serious biography has been done. The book, titled, “Elvis: A Biography,” will be out in October.

For May/June Elvis returns to Nashville for recording sessions that he had to cancel in March. Much of the work is for his next album “Elvis Sings The Wonderful World Of Christmas” the future gospel album “He Touched Me” various singles that will be released during that year such as “I’m Leavin‘” or “It’s Only Love“.
